BroodVale is a multiplayer creature-raising game on Roblox that we are making ourselves, still in development and not out on Roblox yet, while its website, broodvale.com, is already live and introduces the creatures and the world to the players who will meet them first.

What is the game?

  • You hatch an egg, raise what comes out and ride it once it has grown. It all runs on real time, offline included: a first egg hatches in a couple of minutes, a rare one in a day or more.
  • Each creature grows through four stages, from Hatchling to Elder, over a month of real time, and its abilities grow with it.
  • Creatures need food, water and attention, so players grow carrots, berries, sweetcorn and pumpkins on their farm and go fishing.
  • Every player gets a plot of land and builds a home on it by hand, from ten blueprints that run from a log cabin to a castle.
  • Ironmaw, an armoured serpent 450 studs long, lives in the reservoir and swallows careless swimmers whole. They wash up back at the village.
  • It runs on phones, tablets and computers, built for phones first. There is no blood anywhere, names are filtered and players cannot write on signs or buildings.

What does the website do?

broodvale.com is written for the children and teenagers who play Roblox, most of whom arrive on a phone. It names a creature on the first screen, lets you crack drawn eggs to see who is inside, and runs a practice egg on your real clock that hatches in two minutes, so a player learns how the game works before it is even out. Parents get a page of their own about what the game is. Every fact on the site is checked against the game files.

Where it stands

The game is in development and has no release date yet. The website is live, and it gets a news post whenever the game changes. Both come from our software work: the game in Roblox Studio, the website by hand.
